Carlos Guerrero was born in coastal Ecuador and lived there until 1963. He moved to the United Stated, became a citizen and served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. Carlos and Jeanette met in 1986 and married four years later in 1990. They raised their children in the United States. In 2002, Carlos took the entire family on their first trip to Ecuador. Carlos made sure to take Jeanette to the village where he grew up; a village not far from where they serve the people of Ecuador today.
Towards the end of their first visit, while in the coastal village of San Jose, Carlos and Jeanette stood looking, so keenly aware of the multitude of needs in just this one village. They noticed a small boy following them on his bicycle. Since it was early morning, Jeanette asked Carlos why this boy was not in school. Together, they asked and he explained that his family did not have enough money to afford his transition from elementary to high school. It was then, hearing and seeing with their own eyes, that unmet need, that Carlos and Jeanette felt God’s call to return to Ecuador.
For the next seven years, Carlos and Jeanette traveled back and forth from the US to Ecuador providing help for the coastal Ecuadorian school children. In 2009, after years of prayer to understand God's plan for them, they sold everything and moved to Ecuador to begin their full time ministry. Today, Carlos and Jeanette, through their Ecuadorian foundation, Fundación Manos Ayudando Al Ecuador, continue to follow the Lord's call by serving the underprivileged across the coastal communities of Ecuador.
