I absolutely love mission work. I have left a piece of my heart in every place I have visited. My mission work seriously started in 2011 and when I retired as an educational administrator in 2015, I knew I wanted to focus even more on this type of work. In March of 2017, I went on my second mission trip with Compassion Christian Global Outreach. I went to Ecuador and fell in love with the people there. My husband and I returned the same year, on our own, to provide support and informally join the dental mission team that came to serve while we were there. It is hard to describe what happens to your heart and mind when you are in the mission field. I have made wonderful friends, shared in happy times and sad times, but most importantly, have praised our Heavenly Savior, together with people all over the world. Helping Hands in Ecuador has impacted the lives of countless people and I am blessed and humbled to be a small part of this organization.
RENEE MORTON
I went on my first mission trip to Haiti in 2006 and have never been the same since. It was such a privilege to serve the Hatian people alongside the missionaries and team members from all over the United States. I realized the Lord was calling me into service with missionaries and went on to lead five more christian/medical trips to Haiti through my church. In 2012 I traveled to Ecuador serving on a christian community outreach team and it was there I met and began a relationship with Carlos and Jeanette Guerrero.
I felt the call to serve in the Guerrero's ministry in Ecuador, and have led eight trips to Ecuador. I served and was a board member of Nurses for the Nations from 2013-2019 and was instrumental in equipping many Medical and Dental teams to Ecuador. I have worked in the medical field as a medical technologist for over thirty years and have been married to my husband Jeff for just as long. We have two sons and a beautiful daughter in-law. I feel blessed by serving and being a board member of Helping Hands In Ecuador.
NOLAN ANDREWS
I am a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina and currently run a real estate brokerage in Savannah, GA. I am a future Mercer Law student, Class of 2024. I embraced God’s gifts of grace and salvation while in school and made the decision to trust God fully with my life. Recently, I found myself on the coast of Ecuador, serving on a mission trip. I felt called to serve the ministry by joining the board of Helping Hands in Ecuador in hopes to organize and send mission teams to Ecuador in the future. It was in the small town of Bolivar, Ecuador, where I learned why God had allowed me to become so proficient in the Spanish language. I am humbled to be a part of God's work and I'm so excited to see the supernatural things God is going to do through Helping Hands in Ecuador.
ELLEN PATRIDGE
My husband and I have always felt God’s call to missions, but while undergoing breast cancer treatment in 2016, God made His calling very clear. His leading took me to Ecuador. My very first mission trip, with my husband Dr. Phil Patridge, was a dental mission trip to serve Carlos and Jeanette’s Ecuadorian ministry, Fundación Manos Ayudando Al Ecuador. Our entire dental team was heartbroken as we encountered the enormous dental needs of the precious people, young and old, in the small coastal villages served by Carlos and Jeanette's ministry. During our most recent dental mission trip, while talking to Paris, one of our translators, he explained, “In Ecuador, getting to see a dentist and affording dental care is very difficult. It doesn’t matter why you go to the dentist, the treatment is almost always a tooth extraction.”
The love and gratitude shown us by the beautiful people we cared for touched us so deeply. God has called us to continue to serve Him in Ecuador. I am blessed to serve God through Helping Hands In Ecuador by supporting Carlos and Jeanette's Ministry, Fundación Manos Ayudando Al Ecuador. I look forward to what God has in store for the future..
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:9-13
